CASE: ALERTUM 

Website renewal enables smoother online purchasing and better search rankings  

Alertum is the largest operator in the security and educational sector in Finland, arranging security-related courses across the country. The company chose Avalon to enhance the user experience and renew the visual appearance of their website in conjunction with a switch to a new content management system.

Premise and goals

The website is Alertum’s most significant sales channel. Most of the information available on the courses the company provides is found online, which means that efficient functioning of the course search and the fluency of purchasing are directly related to the success of transactions and the volume of purchases.

The content management system Alertum was using before did not support the company’s goals and they recognised a need for improved usability and search engine rankings as well as more engaging visuals.

Implementation and solutions

Avalon designed the website’s structure and layout to enhance usability based on the customer path. The site’s visual appearance was refreshed and modernised while remaining in line with the Alertum brand. Once existing website texts were transferred to the new platform, they were audited, and all pages were optimised by Avalon to support better search engine rankings.

A fluent purchasing experience was achieved with the help of a shopping basket functionality commonly used in online shops. It allows users to select and purchase more than one course at the same time. This enables a smoother user experience as most customers purchase more than one course and for more than one person.

WordPress platform was used for the technical implementation, as requested by the client. A custom module was used to integrate the course offering and search functionality with the site. The technical implementation was done by S&P Digital.

Results

As a result, Alertum has a new responsive website with a fresh visual appearance, better search rankings in Google’s organic search results and more efficient search advertising. It is now easy for online users to learn about Alertum’s courses and effortless to purchase them online.
